Wonderful Windows

Recently I received a brief that demanded I capture the spirit of a rather beautiful Country Estate called Muddifords. Muddifords loved my drawing style and my "skyline" work. So, I set about creating their own timeline, taking elements of the estate that were key and combining them with elements of the estate that captured the owners humour and sense of fun.

If you look at my work there are always little things designed to make you smile; an airballoon with the clients waving, birds colliding, fish jumping. The little things in life are important to me, the aspects that make us appreciate the world we work and live in with humour and grace. With Muddifords it was easy to capture the mood of the estate; ducks waddling around, tractors stopping for lunch, the dogs waiting for guests at the gates, the architecture and the space. Particularly the gorgeous sweeping driveway. It was beautiful.

I worked with Becky Joiner, marketing guru, who turned the commission into a delightful Paddington Bear inspired space to celebrate their upcoming open day. I just love what she's done, particularly the little details like the floating cloud and Pip the dog in the window. My commission can be seen on their website, all that remains is for everyone to visit and tell me if I've captured the essence!

Muddifords Court  Country House is open!
Their official launch is Friday 2nd March, call 01884 820023 for more info.

Marvelous Muddifords

I was recently commissioned to work on an illustration project for Muddifords Country House Estate. Muddifords is set within Culm Valley, close to the edge of the Blackdown Hills, which is an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". To me that means stunning views, great walks and some seriously good West Countryness.

I fell in LOVE with the estate; utterly stylish interiors, beautiful views, stunning buildings (including The Cider Barn) and the all important sweeping driveway. It makes for the perfect wedding venue.

The great news is Muddifords now hold a license for weddings. Yippee! They are having an official launch on Friday 2 March 2012. Becky Joiner from http://www.myfabulouslife.co.uk/, photographer and marketeer extraordinaire, coordinated a shoot as part of the celebrations. Here's a sneak peek:

If you'd like to attend the event contact Muddifords: 01884 820023.

Meantime, here's a glimpse of my part of the project...it's underwraps for now.
I'll post in glorious technicolour as soon as I am allowed!

Happy Valentines Day folks.

New faces (and some old ones!).

I can still remember my first commission, it was for a gatefold "Faces" card with love-heart sweets images on the reverse. The couple were getting married on my mothers birthday. An auspicious sign, I thought. Then came Emma & Darren; more childhood pictures, Julie &Rob; lilac card with black and white images...the photo-card commissions kept coming and I spent my days chuckling at the pictures couples would send in. These designs really do inject some humour into what can be a formal occasion. I'm currently working on new designs and as part of that process I'm looking back. I thought I'd post a couple of images of various "Faces" cards. Smile!

Thank you cards with wedding date on reverse.

Sarah & Damien; candy stripes echoed their pink theme.

Save the date!

Bespoke folded invite with childhood pictures & a current shot on the right flap.
Childhood seaside pics mixed with red, burgundy combine a sunny vintage
seaside theme with modern hues.

Seaside meets Scotland! Sea-thistle's, kiss me quick images and organza ribbons
created an opulent folding card.

It's (definitely) warm inside!

Yes, it snowed! Horray! The picture on my blog (above) is pretty much what we were faced with yesterday when we got up. Yes, I went out to play in it and whilst we didn't get the amount of snow required to make the same snow sculptures as last year it was fun to run around and feel the fresh air.

Last year we had our friend Tarn over from Oz. He's pretty good at sand sculpture and these fella's were the result of his hard work (and direction)...

After some snow fun it was back into the studio to catch up after my week away (it was minus 12 at times in Gottenburg, made me feel reckless going out in the UK in just one layer!), starting with samples. I LOVE seeing the sample packs all packed up and ready to go. What delights are inside?!?

Then it was finishing off the weeks proofs and orders. Loving the Clarissa design; classic styling with a modern twist has kept the design ever popular. It's still as in demand as when we created it and I love that brides play about with the design, combining colourways to create maximum impact.

Clarissa is available in ANY colourway and on either sparkle boards or thick matt stock. Find out more here... http://www.twobytwoweddings.com/html/range/clarissa_01.htm

Now then, any snow left...?

I love, love, love the look of a white wedding. It's a huge inspiration to me in my own planning and I am loving the understated elegance achieved by layering white & ivory together. We produced stationery for this shoot for Brides, who made a fabulous display of our table name cards.
It's such an unusual way to personalise your wedding look.
